traditional sweet made from coconut jaggery and rice that is rolled
into a ball) He who has ears that resemble a hand held fan. He who
wears a chain-like ornament around his waist, He who is short statured,
He who is the son of Lord Maheshwara. O! Lord Vinayaka who is all
the above and he who removes all impediments(vignas), We worship your
Divine Feet. |

Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth, resides(vasate) in the fore-most(agre)
part of the hands(kara), Saraswati, the Goddess of learning, resides
in the palm (kara madhye=middle part of hand) Govinda, the Lord
Narayana resides at the root (moola=root) i.e (near wrist). Therefore,
every morning, one should have a respectful look at one's hand.
This shloka signifies that one should seek the blessings of Goddess
Lakshmi and make honest effort to earn wealth to meet the necessities
of life, seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswati and make honest
effort to gain knowledge in the day and seek the blessings of Lord
Narayana and dedicate the entire day's activities to Him. |

She shines like full a moon in a clear sky; She is as pure as
morning dew on a green leaf. She wears a white sari (free from
contamination), She holds Veena in her two hands (a symbol of music),
and Veda (original Hindu scriptures) in other hand (A symbol of
knowledge). She sits on a white lotus and is worshiped by Brahma (her
husband), Vishnu, Mahesh, and all other gods of the universe. She is
full of knowledge and we pray to her for all these things. |
